Overwatch 2 Devs Planning Return of OW1’s Iconic End-of-Match Voting Cards

Longtime Overwatch fans may soon see the return of a beloved feature: end-of-match voting cards, which were notably absent from Overwatch 2 at launch. The development team has confirmed they’re exploring ways to bring back this fan-favorite element—though it may return in a new and updated form.

🗳️ A Nod to Overwatch 1’s Legacy

In the original Overwatch, post-match cards let players vote for standout teammates or opponents based on impressive in-game stats like:

  • Total eliminations
  • Healing done
  • Ultimate kill counts
  • Other hero-specific metrics

These cards added a layer of recognition and social interaction that many felt was missing from the sequel. Since OW2 launched without them, players have frequently asked for their return.

Now, it looks like Blizzard is listening. 💬

🛠️ Devs Confirm They're Working On It

In a July 7 developer blog, the Overwatch 2 team acknowledged this community feedback:

“We’ve heard that you’re missing features that brought personality to matches, like the old end-of-match voting cards. That kind of social expression matters.”

While no exact details were given, they teased that the system may return in a different format, as part of a larger push to improve social recognition within the game. This includes potential changes to the endorsement system and new ways for players to interact in positive, supportive ways.

📈 More Player Choice in Season 18 and Beyond

The devs also hinted at other enhancements coming with Season 18, including:

  • 🔓 More control over unlockable content
  • 🎯 Goal-oriented progression paths
  • 🗺️ Possible hero bans and map voting

Rather than overhauling the entire progression system, Blizzard plans to build gradually, offering players more ways to earn rewards and customize their experience over time.

⏳ What’s Next?

While the return of voting cards is still in development, fans can expect more concrete updates as we approach Overwatch 2 Season 18. The dev team appears committed to reviving community-driven features that made OW1 feel unique—and giving players more ways to be recognized for their contributions. 💪
