Overwatch 2: Moira’s “Boo” Emote Spooks a Genji into Wasting Their Ultimate
A hilarious moment in Overwatch 2 showcases just how powerful mind games can be. In a recently shared clip, a Moira player manages to scare an enemy Genji into prematurely activating their Dragonblade Ultimate—using nothing but a well-timed emote.
For many Overwatch 2 players, Ultimate abilities are game-changing tools, often held back until the perfect opportunity to secure multiple eliminations. However, in this case, panic got the better of a Genji player, leading to a less-than-optimal use of their powerful Ultimate.
Moira’s Trickery Meets Genji’s Panic
Reddit user Hummusfrog shared the clip, which begins with their Moira supporting an allied Orisa. Spotting an enemy Genji lurking in a corner, Moira greets them with a friendly “hello,” to which the Genji responds in kind. While their teams remain engaged on the objective, the two foes briefly form an unexpected truce.
But the lighthearted moment takes a spooky turn. Moira activates her Halloween-themed “Boo” emote, where she creepily walks away before lunging back with a sudden jumpscare. The Genji player, startled by the display, reacts by activating their Dragonblade Ultimate. They leap toward Moira, slashing three times before finally eliminating her.
Did Genji Waste Their Ultimate?
As the clip ends before Dragonblade’s duration runs out, it’s unclear if the Genji managed to secure any more eliminations. Given that the Ultimate only lasts six seconds and Moira consumed a significant portion of that time, it’s likely she was its sole victim.
Interestingly, this Moira was using the Ancient Caller Mythic skin from Overwatch 2 Season 9, which, paired with the Boo emote, may have enhanced the jumpscare effect. While some viewers praised Moira’s clever use of the emote, others expressed curiosity about Genji’s perspective during the moment.
Community Reactions and Genji’s Struggles
The interaction also sparked debates within the Overwatch community. Some pointed out that Moira managed to survive two Dragonblade strikes before the final blow, leading to discussions about Genji’s current state in the game. Some players believe the Damage hero could use a buff to make him more competitive, especially against resilient Support heroes like Moira.
Panic-induced Ultimates have long been a part of Overwatch’s chaotic charm, dating back to the first game. However, this incident stands out as a particularly amusing example.
Looking Ahead for Genji and Overwatch 2
With Blizzard continually updating Overwatch 2 and tweaking hero balance, Genji could see adjustments in future patches. However, no buffs or changes might have saved this particular player from succumbing to Moira’s spooky tactics.
This clip serves as a reminder of how humor and unpredictability remain integral to the Overwatch experience, where even the most serious moments can turn into unforgettable highlights.
