Torbjorn's Hilarious Leeroy Jenkins Reference in Overwatch 2 x WoW Anniversary Event
In the recent gameplay trailer for the Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft anniversary event, Torbjorn made a nod to one of the most iconic WoW memes: Leeroy Jenkins. This playful reference, along with new World of Warcraft skins and collectibles, is now available as part of the ongoing in-game event in Overwatch 2.
To celebrate World of Warcraft's upcoming 20th anniversary, Overwatch 2 has introduced four new skins, transforming Widowmaker, Reinhardt, Zenyatta, and Torbjorn into WoW characters Sylvanas, the Lich King, Thrall, and diamond Magni, respectively.
During the trailer showcasing these collectibles, Torbjorn reenacts one of the most memorable moments in WoW history. He leaps from his turret, charges forward, and shouts, "Let’s do this! TORBJORN LINDHOLM!"—a clear homage to the legendary Leeroy Jenkins charge. The reference is cemented at the end of the trailer when Torbjorn quips, "At least I have chicken," another famous line from the meme.
Leeroy Jenkins Reference in Overwatch 2 x WoW Event
The Leeroy Jenkins meme originated from the 2005 video “A Rough Go,” in which a Paladin named Leeroy Jenkins recklessly runs into a dangerous room in Upper Blackrock Spire, causing his entire party to be wiped out. Though the video was likely staged, it became a viral sensation, and references to Leeroy Jenkins have appeared across various media ever since, including World of Warcraft itself.
While Torbjorn’s Leeroy Jenkins lines aren’t part of the unlockable content in the Overwatch 2 x WoW event, each hero gets their own iconic voice lines. For instance, Widowmaker says, “Dark Lady watch over you,” while Reinhardt utters, “Frostmourne Hungers.” In addition to these lines, every skin except Magni Torbjorn comes with a highlight intro. Widowmaker showcases Sylvanas' bow, Reinhardt nods to the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic, and Zenyatta wields the Doomhammer.
Players can obtain these WoW-themed skins, voice lines, sprays, and emotes via bundles in the in-game shop. Additionally, the event features challenges that reward players with WoW-themed sprays, name cards, player titles, and Battle Pass experience upon completion. The crossover event is live throughout September, giving players ample time to grab their favorite skins and complete the special in-game challenges.
