Guangzhou Charge signed three players on a bilateral contract

The leadership of the Chinese eSports club Guangzhou Charge announced that it had signed three Overwatch players. The new players are Li 'Xerneas' Xingyao as a support, as well as two DPS players: Lei 'Jimmy' Yujia and Li 'Apr1ta' Yuanjihao. Previously, they played in the Academy roster of the same organization, and now they have received places in the starting roster. Thus, Xerneas, Jimmy and Apr1ta will play both in the main Overwatch roster and in the UP Academy.

The esportsmen will join the three main players of the Guangzhou Charge in the form of Ki-cheol 'Cr0ng' Nam, Se-hwan 'ChoiSehwan' Choi and Cao 'Farway1987' Jiale.

The team will take part in the Overwatch League Season 2022 Summer Showdown, a tournament with a prize pool of $225,000. It will start on August 11th and end on September 11th. In the period from 8 to 11 September, the main matches of this league, the playoffs, will take place. The Guangzhou Charge will play in the eastern division against teams such as Chengdu Hunters, Hangzhou Spark, Los Angeles Valiant, Philadelphia Fusion, Seoul Dynasty and Shanghai Dragons. Notably, Overwatch League Season 2022 Summer Showdown matches will be played in Overwatch 2.

Li 'Xerneas' Xingyao is known for having such an unusual two-way contract with Chengdu Hunters and Team Chaser and playing for the two clubs for two years. Then he was still known not as Xerneas, but as Yveltal. The 21-year-old esportsman has earned over $80,000 in prize money and is the most successful of the three incoming players. His career in the professional Overwatch scene began in 2016. He managed to play in such lineups as LinGan Esports, Chengdu Hunters, Team Chaser and Up Academy. The esportsman does not have a single victory on his account, however, he often became a silver medalist and achieved good success in the Overwatch league. The most successful periods in his career can safely be called July, August and September 2021. Then he took second place at the Overwatch League 2021 - Summer Showdown, Overwatch League 2021 - Countdown Cup, where he earned $70,000 each, and also made it to the Overwatch League 2021 - Playoffs, a championship with a prize pool of $3,200,000. There, the team took the 5th-6th line in the standings and earned $150,000.
