Weekly Team Spotlight: Team SoloMid!

Team SoloMid has been dominating these past few weeks and has rocked the NALCS rankings at number 1, going undefeated in their series and only dropping 3 games since. It's quite certain that this team would do great since last Spring split when major additions to the team’s roster went underway, but they've only showed their expected newfound strength in their roster just this season. Let's see why that is and what it has brought for Team SoloMid.

If it’s anything, one thing is inevitably certain for Team SoloMid. They’re on a complete rampage. The team went on for a clean cycle, defeating all teams from Phoenix1 to Cloud 9 to Counter Logic Gaming to even Immortals! They haven’t drop any series and most games didn’t even come as close calls and as aforementioned, they only lost 3 games so far. They’re just that far ahead as we are already underway the second cycle of matches and as we approach Week 5 of the NALCS.

Before this split, the team went through a lot. The Spring split was one of them. With a really rough Group Stages in the Spring split, TSM had only placed 6th place in the end. They almost had the Spring crown when they managed to have some kind of momentum to make it into the playoffs’ Finals, but they lost it to Counter Logic Gaming, with 3-2 as the final score in the 2016 Spring Split NALCS Finals. TSM was just shy of a win to secure the spot to MSI 2016.

Before that, they had also just gotten so close to winning the Intel Extreme Masters tournament, but they lost that one to SKT, the eventual triple-crown champions of the tournament. As a result, they had only placed in the 3-4th place in the tournament. Also, a little way back before IEM, they lost Dyrus as he retired from pro-play at Worlds 2015 when TSM has been eliminated from the championship. This stirred a really weird mix in the team when Doublelift and YellOwStaR joined the fray. They were still new to their new-found strength, though everybody expected them to go far with their roster.

Sadly, they didn’t. As far as ranks go, they didn’t well in Spring, leaving YellOwStaR to leave the team. However, over the summer it seems they have learned from their mistakes and learned to finally harness the strength of their roster that fans knew was still able to happen. This strength only goes to show this Summer Split.

Only time will tell if they can keep their undefeated form up until the end. If they can, they’ll have another shot at Worlds, which the team never missed since Season 1. For now, don’t forget to cheer for TSM, if you’re a fan anyways!
