Riot Games decided to publish World Championship 2016 statistics on their official website. According to the report, World Championship 2016 set a record for a total number of spectators and the overall hours of broadcasting.
It should be mentioned that a grand final match between SK Telecom T1 and Samsung Galaxy was watched by 43,000,000 spectators, while the previous year result was 36,000,000 spectators. As for the overall hours, this year the number is 370,000,000. Last year, this number was 360,000,000 hours. The starting prize pool of World Championship was $2,100,000 but with the help of crowd funding system Riot Games managed to rise prize pool to $6,700,000.
