League of Legends Developers Announce Legends of Runeterra World Championship

Riot Games talked about how they will develop the competitive scene in their League of Legends card game. The official website of Legends of Runeterra has information on the holding of the World Cup. The first tournament of this scale will take place in September 2021.

Participants from different regions will receive invitations to the events. 64 players will take part in each of the qualifying rounds. In Europe and Southeast Asia, esports players will receive five invitations, while for North America and South America six invites were allocated.

The Legends of Runeterra devs will select qualifying rounds based on their ladder performance and seasonal championships. The top 22 players with the best rating will become the selected invitee in the qualifiers. They will be accompanied by another 22 players with the most ranking points, as well as 20 teams that made it to the finals of seasonal events.

The 16 best teams will qualify for the main stage of the Legends of Runeterra World Championship. The event starts with the group stage, where half of the participants will be eliminated. In the final stage, the top eight will fight in the single-elimination bracket. The total prize pool of the tournament will be $ 200,000.
