Shenzhen will host 2021 League of Legends World Championship
Riot Games announced that Shenzhen, China will host the 2021 League of Legends World Championship. China has become the sole host of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship of the Year due to the COVID-19 pandemic banning the tournament's traditional multi-city tour of the host region. Additional host cities for earlier rounds of this year's tournament will be revealed at a later date.
Located in the southern part of Guangdong province of the People's Republic of China, Shenzhen will host the upcoming 2021 League of Legends World Championship. With a focus on the electronics and telecommunications industries, the city is a hub for foreign investors, with the highest per capita income in the country.
Along the way, Riot Games announced plans for Wild Rift. Even before the game is fully released, Riot Games is ready to commit to supporting the esports leg of its first fully mobile title, League of Legends: Wild Rift.
As with previous game launches, Riot will not invest in a full franchise system or global league structure in Wild Rift's first year, but instead spend time experimenting and observing community responses.
