Riot Releases "Back from the Brink" Cinematic for New LoL Champion Locke

Riot Games has unveiled Back from the Brink, a new cinematic trailer introducing Locke, the next champion coming to League of Legends. The video offers players a closer look at the demon hunter's story ahead of his arrival on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) and official release on June 24.

The cinematic follows Locke as he confronts a corrupted version of Vayne, who has fallen under the influence of a demonic force. According to Riot, the encounter represents one of the greatest challenges the demon hunter has faced so far.

The trailer also expands the ongoing supernatural storyline that has become a major focus of League of Legends this season, placing Locke at the center of the conflict against demonic threats across Runeterra.

Riot Reveals the Team Behind Locke

Riot shared details about several developers involved in creating the champion.

Gameplay design was led by Riot Emizery, who previously worked on champions and updates including Mel, Hwei, Milio, and Shyvana's recent rework.

The visual design and concept art for Locke were created by Riot Lonewingy, known for contributions to champions such as Irelia, Evelynn, Morgana, Kayle, and Zaahen.

Writers Behind Locke's Story

Several members of Riot's narrative team contributed to Locke's lore and personality.

Among them is Riot Little Leaf, whose previous work includes stories for Nidalee, Neeko, Akshan, and Nami in Legends of Runeterra. The writing team also includes KneecapPhilly, known for work on Xin Zhao stories and multiple League of Legends cinematics, as well as Inky, who previously contributed to League comics and Zaahen's narrative content.

Locke is scheduled to join League of Legends on June 24 and will continue Riot's current storyline focused on demons and supernatural forces throughout Runeterra.
