Musk Wants Top LoL Players to Battle Grok 5 AI in 2026

American entrepreneur Elon Musk has suggested hosting a high-profile showdown between the world’s top League of Legends players and the newest version of the Grok 5 artificial intelligence. The idea, shared on X, quickly caught the attention of T1, the reigning Worlds 2025 champions, who were among the first to react to the proposal.

Musk Proposes Human vs. AI Match Under Strict Conditions

Musk aims to organize the match sometime in 2026, but with specific limitations to ensure fairness. Grok 5 would only be allowed to view the game through a camera pointed at the monitor, mimicking the visual capabilities of a human with 20/20 vision. Additionally, its reaction time and click speed would be capped so that the AI wouldn’t perform actions any faster than a human player could.

Other Esports Challenges Suggested

Following the proposal, some users encouraged Musk to arrange a similar match between Grok 5 and professional StarCraft players, a community well-known for its extremely high skill ceiling and mechanical intensity.

AI in Esports: Previous Matches Show Its Strength

This wouldn’t be the first time AI challenges pro players. In August, a team of professional Dota 2 players faced off against an artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI, playing two matches —both of which were decisively won by the AI.
