Riot Games has officially announced new details for the League of Legends World Championship 2025 (Worlds 2025). The global esports event will run from October 14 to November 9, with matches set to unfold across three major cities in China.

What’s New in 2025: Updated Play-In Format

The most notable change this year comes to the Play-In stage. In a shift from previous formats, the teams that placed 4th in the two highest-performing regions at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2025 will now face off in a best-of-five series. The winner will secure a final spot in the main event, adding a new layer of intensity and opportunity to the tournament’s early rounds.
