The expenses of organizations for maintaining teams in League of Legends amount to approximately $3 million
Arnold Hur, the CEO of Gen.G, stated that participation in the League of Legends franchise league does not cover all the expenses for maintaining the teams. According to his calculations, organizations lose approximately $3 million annually. He shared this information on "The Monte & Wolf Show" podcast.
Hur believes that implementing a salary cap for esports players in the South Korean league will benefit the clubs. This rule is set to take effect from 2024, and violators will be fined, with the collected funds distributed among the clubs that comply with the regulations.
However, there are exceptions to the rules. If a player wins three major international championships in a row, only 50% of their salary will be counted. Additionally, there is a loyalty bonus for players who have been with a club for more than three years, with only 30% of their salary taken into account.
