Astralis Considers Selling Its LEC Slot

Danish esports organization Astralis is considering selling its LEC slot, according to Upcomer. At the same time, several organizations have already applied for Astralis' place in the European League of Legends. If the sale goes through, the organization will leave its place in the league to the new team starting next year.

According to sources, organizations interested in buying the seat include Karmine Corp and Natus Vincere. An unnamed North American organization is also showing interest. Over the past few weeks, potential buyers have managed to send their offers. If the Astralis organization agrees to the deal, Riot Games will also have to confirm the changes. The deadline for selling a slot in the LEC is September.

Astralis has been on the League of Legends scene since 2020, when it took over from Origen in the LEC as a result of a rebrand. Their parent company RFRSH Entertainment at the time also acquired Origen, the brand and name they used in the LEC. Although the team reached the LEC finals in their first split, they never managed to repeat this success.

Astralis Group decided to move all Astralis-branded activities in September 2020. This happened after Origen and Astralis moved into the organization after splitting from RFRSH Entertainment.

Karmine Corp is one of the leading teams in the French league. The French organization has consistently held attendance records since joining the league. This summer split was no exception, as can be seen from all sorts of metrics. In addition, they are the first team to have won three consecutive European Masters trophies. Given this success, participating in the highest level League of Legends tournament in Europe is a dream come true for many fans.

Natus Vincere is another organization that has a presence in many esports disciplines, with the exception of League Of Legends. Joining the LEC would be a big entry into League Of Legends esports for a Ukrainian organization.

If Astralis does end up selling its place in the LEC, it will be the second team to make such a deal this year. Team Heretics acquired the Misfits' LEC seat last month.
