KkOma wants to step down as head coach of Korea's LoL team

On April 21, KeSPA (Professional Players Association) held a press conference to discuss the controversy surrounding the 2022 Asian Game qualifiers and exhibition matches.

Kim 'kkOma' Jung Gyun expressed his opinion in a negative way. He spoke to the press to clarify the situation. What's more, it was kkOma who asked KeSPA to hold a meeting to clear up some of the issues that were bothering him. Kim Jong-kyun criticized both the selection process for the Korea League of Legends team and the match schedule. In his opinion, the person who holds the position of head coach of the national team has every right to express his opinion in this vein and may ask to change these aspects of the tournament.

It was later revealed that Kim 'kkOma' Jung Gyun wants to step down from his position and retire before the start of the Korean national team in the 2022 Asian Game. KeSPA are negotiating with Kim, and after them they will inform about their decision.

Kim 'kkOma' Jung Gyun is a legendary coach who became famous for his success with T1 (formerly known as SK Telecom T1). He joined the club in 2012 as head coach and has had a very productive journey with them. Together with him, the players became champions first at LCK Spring 2015, and then they conquered the largest LoL championships, 2015 World Championship, Mid-Season Invitational 2016, 2016 World Championship and Mid-Season Invitational 2017. In 2019, the mentor moved to the ranks DAMWON Gaming and helped the players win at LCK Spring 2021 and LCK Summer 2021. The 2021 World Championship ended for the team in second place, which can be called a very good result. In the grand final, the team lost against EDward Gaming with a score of 2-3.
