Player Spotlight: Jan “superJJ” Janssen
Jan “superJJ” Janssen is a German Hearthstone player currently competing for compLexity gaming since April of 2016. When they picked him up, he had seen little to no competitive play, although he performed extremely well in the EU region’s Legend ranks on ladder. He also streams on twitch, and had since long before he joined up with compLexity.
In November of 2015, superJJ battled his way up not only his native EU ladder, but the NA Legend ranks as well. When he took the #1 spot on not one, but two regions in the same month, this attracted some attention. It became obvious that this player was destined to make it big, and compLexity made it happen. With their help, Jan was able to participate in tournaments like the Truesilver Championship, Seat Story Cup IV, and the Xfinity Hearthstone invitational II, taking home the gold medal in 3 tournaments in 2015. Throughout his career, Jan has brought in ~$35,000 in total winnings, $10,000 of which came from taking the first place spot in the Seat Story Cup IV.
Jan competes alongside his teammates, Jordan “TheJordude” Hong Tai, Simon “Sottle” Welch, Simon “Crane” Raunholst, and Grace “Sylvanhunter” Naces. All of these players are motivated and well respected players within the community. While some are not as well known as others, many can be considered hidden gems of the Hearthstone scene. While they have not taken any particularly massive titles like Blizzon, or any Majors or Prelims, they dominate weekly tournaments through organizations like ESL from the back lines, using this to build up their reputation in hopes of hitting it big like their teammate, Jan.
