Hearthstone: Battlegrounds Season 10 "Second Nature" Launches with Major Updates

On April 29, 2025, Blizzard released the long-awaited 10th season of Hearthstone's Battlegrounds mode, titled Second Nature. Inspired by the mystical Ardenweald zone from the World of Warcraft universe, the update introduces an array of new features, including the return of artifacts, revamped minion pools, new heroes, and more.

Return of Artifacts

Artifacts are back in the game and now feature a more refined selection system. Players are offered minor artifacts on Turn 6 and major ones on Turn 9, with the selections now more likely to match their board compositions. The update includes over 100 new artifacts and brings back more than 100 from previous seasons, offering expanded tactical variety.

New Heroes: Cenarius and Buttons

Hearthstone: Battlegrounds Season 10

Two new heroes join the roster this season:

  • Cenarius (10 Armor): His ability Wisdom of the Ancients costs 3 gold and increases the player's maximum gold by 1, allowing for faster economic scaling.
  • Buttons (10 Armor, 7 in Duos): His passive Growing Collection lets players select and purchase a major artifact on Turn 8, creating a pivotal mid-game advantage.

These heroes introduce fresh strategic pathways, enhancing player adaptability on the battlefield.

Minion and Spell Pool Refresh

Season 10 brings extensive changes to the minion pool and tavern spells:

  • 75+ new and returning minions offer room for fresh strategies and synergy experimentation.
  • Updated tavern spells include both newly introduced effects and popular spells from past seasons, contributing to gameplay diversity.

These updates are designed to breathe new life into matches and expand strategic depth.

Rating Reset and New Battlegrounds Pass

With the start of the new season:

  • Player ratings have been reset, giving everyone an equal chance to climb the ladder.
  • Anomalies have been removed, restoring a more stable and predictable game experience.
  • A new Battlegrounds Pass has been introduced, featuring unique cosmetic items and in-game currency rewards.

These changes aim to rebalance and reinvigorate the game mode.

Upcoming Mini-Set: Embers of the World Tree

Hearthstone: Battlegrounds Season 10

Although officially launching on May 13, the Embers of the World Tree mini-set is already available in the game client. It features 38 new cards, available either as part of Whispers of the Emerald Dream packs or as a standalone set. Players can purchase the standard edition for $14.99 or 2000 gold, and the golden edition for $69.99 or 10,000 gold, which includes a bonus diamond card — the legendary minion Firakka, the Blazing.

In-Game Event: Embers of the World Tree

From May 13 to June 3, a special in-game event will celebrate the launch of the mini-set. Players completing event quests will earn experience toward a themed reward track, which includes:

  • 6 Whispers of the Emerald Dream packs
  • 1 Year of the Pegasus pack
  • 2 random epic cards from Whispers of the Emerald Dream
  • A hunter hero skin: Haln of Ardenweald

The event offers additional rewards and encourages broader engagement with the new content.

Store Updates

With patch 32.2, the in-game shop now features:

  • The Embers of the World Tree mini-set
  • The new Battlegrounds Pass
  • New and returning hero skins
  • Signature Ink Wash-style cards

Conclusion

Season 10 of Hearthstone: Battlegrounds arrives as one of the most content-rich updates in the game’s history. From refined mechanics and new heroes to an upcoming mini-set and live event, players have a wealth of fresh experiences to explore. Whether you're a competitive veteran or a casual player, Second Nature offers something new for everyone in the ever-evolving tavern.
