OpTic Halo Invitational postponed indefinitely

North American esports organization OpTic Gaming has announced that it is postponing the OpTic Halo Invitational indefinitely. It is reported that the decision is due to the insufficient number of participants to organize a full-fledged championship.

We're going to be postponing the OpTic Halo Invitational, but we couldn't say that before. We couldn't make the announcement faster. Unfortunately, due to the state of Halo as it is now, we are unable to host the championship. We could make a salad from a mixture of completely different teams. But that wouldn't work, because at the time we looked like we were trying to simplify things. This will give those who have purchased tickets a chance to see the event when it happens next year.

The news first came from a user on Reddit who claimed to have received an email to cancel previously purchased tickets. The alleged email stated that the event was being postponed due to a lack of participants, but OpTic Gaming hoped to reschedule the tournament to 2023.

Shortly after posting, the North American organization released an official statement confirming the postponement of the OpTic Halo Invitational.

Initially, the OpTic Halo Invitational was scheduled to take place from December 9 to 11 in Arlington at Esport Stadium. The tournament was supposed to present the best teams of the scene, however, in the weeks before the start of the event, OpTic Gaming never notified fans about the upcoming competition.

The championship is being postponed at a time of ongoing concern about the future of Halo. Numerous partner teams such as Cloud9, eUnited and Fnatic have dropped their rosters this off-season and have yet to provide clear plans for next year. At the same time, the former Cloud9 roster quickly moved to Spacestation Gaming, while two new teams appeared in the ecosystem - Quadrant and Complexity Gaming.

As the OpTic Halo Invitational is postponed indefinitely, the first event of the new season will be the Spacestation Spartan Snowdown starting on January 13th. It will be followed by HCS qualifiers for the Year Two Kickoff Major at the end of January.
