Gabe Newell hints about the release of Valve games on consoles

Gabe Newell hinted that Valve's games may soon appear on consoles. The head of the Valve company said this in a conversation with students of one of the schools in New Zealand. Newell stressed that players will receive more information on this by the end of 2021.

During a visit to one of the schools, there was a Q&A session during which the head of Valve was asked if Valve or Steam would port their games to consoles or if they would remain exclusive to PC.

In response to this question, Newell said,"You will get a better idea of ​​this by the end of this year."

As a surprised hum rolled through the audience, he added, "I don't think the answer to this question will be what you expect." It is likely that Valve is really going to share some plans for game consoles in the coming months, however, it is unclear whether it is about ports for PlayStation or XBOX. However, there is a theory that Valve is preparing the release of Half-Life: Alyx on PlayStation 5 after the release of PlayStation VR 2.

Note that the last game from Valve, released not only on PC, but also on consoles of the previous generation (PS3 and Xbox 360), was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

It is worth recalling that Newell flew to New Zealand even before the start of the coronavirus pandemic and was stuck in the country due to closed borders. Interestingly, the head of Valve even thought about moving some of the company's employees to New Zealand.
