Saber Interactive Denied They’re Working on a New Ori Installment
Late last month, shortly before Gamescom 2026, reports surfaced that Xbox was preparing to announce a new game soon, and some details were revealed as well. Specifically, it was mentioned the game would be part of a Microsoft-owned franchise but would be developed by a third-party studio. As it turned out, no announcement was made at Gamescom, and it remains unclear which new game might be in question.
Meanwhile, rumors have been circulating about a new Ori game, which is allegedly being developed by one of Saber Interactive's divisions. However, Moon Studios head and Ori director Thomas Mahler denied these reports, calling them "nonsense"—but also hinted that he wouldn't mind regaining the rights to the franchise.
Until recently, Saber Interactive had not made any statements regarding a new Ori game, but now the picture has finally become clear. During a recent interview with Gamertag, Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits put an end to the rumors once and for all, stating, “We're not working on it. Sorry.”

“No, we're not working on that.”
We can only speculate about what this mysterious project—owned by Microsoft and being developed by a third-party studio—might be. Speaking of Moon Studios, the developers of Ori, they recently confirmed that the release of the full version of No Rest for the Wicked has been pushed back to March 2027, with an open beta scheduled for December of this year.
