There won't be a new Assassin's Creed game this year - Valhalla will instead live on with add-ons happening in Ireland and France - but that doesn't mean Ubisoft's biggest franchise is taking a breather. In fact, quite the opposite.

Ubisoft has announced plans for the development of the Assassin's Creed franchise. The developers intend to expand the gaming universe with comics, audiobooks and TV series. Etienne Bouvet and Azazia Aimar, managers of Ubisoft's publishing department, spoke about this in an interview with Eurogamer.

Outside of gaming, Ubisoft will work with the Assassin's Creed franchise in three ways:

  • "Classics" are direct adaptations of video games.
  • "Chronicles" - continuation of the stories of famous characters.
  • "Originals" - stories with new characters of the game universe.

Comics and TV series that will be released in the Assassin's Creed universe:

  • Assassin's Creed Fragments - the action will unfold in Japan in the 19th century, Scotland in the 13th century and France in the 17th century.
  • Assassin's Creed: The Ming Storm is an audiobook by Chinese writer Yang Leisheng. It will be released in June 2021 and will tell about the adventures of Shao Jun, the main character of the Assassin's Creed Chronicles China game.
  • Assassin's Creed: The Jade Seal Collection - novels dedicated to the confrontation between the Assassins and the Templars in China from the 4th to the 17th century.
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Blood Brothers - the plot tells about the Vikings.
  • Assassin's Creed: Turbulence is an audio series about the Ming dynasty.
  • Webtoon about the adventures of Edward Kenway, continuing the story of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
