Ubisoft plans to move away from the AAA-project model
Representatives of the studio Ubisoft announced that they plan to move away from the AAA-projects model to shareware games. This became known from the report on the results of the third financial quarter of 2020. The publisher expects long-term support for older releases, free games to play a large role in its revenues.
In plans for 2022, Ubisoft has three AAA projects, however, in the future, the studio will focus its efforts on older games and shareware projects. This was stated by the CFO of Ubisoft Frederic Duzhe in his speech.
Dyuzhe stressed that old titles like Rainbow Six Siege continue to be popular and the studio has no plans to abandon them. Moreover, games that are highly popular will receive up-to-date support. While new releases are often delayed, old titles like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, Anno 1800, past Just Dance and Assassin's Creed Odyssey continue to sell well, which is one of the reasons for the studio's change in approach....
