Sony shipped 4.5 million PS5s in 2020
Despite all the problems with the supply of the latest Sony PlayStation 5 console, the company managed to sell more than 4.5 million units in 2020 alone, according to the published financial report.
Despite the difficulties related to supply and demand for the PlayStation 5, Sony was able to show good sales results. Only the coronavirus has been able to stop the supply chain of several retailers around the world, but that hasn't stopped Sony from incredible numbers when it comes to sales.
The PlayStation 5 had the same pre-launch buzz as the PlayStation 4, but the latter didn't face the hardships of the pandemic that managed to spread discord within Sony's ranks, and yet it wasn't enough to keep them from one of their best financial quarters.
The PlayStation 5 brought an unprecedented hype, but not everyone was lucky enough to get the console in the first days after the start of sales due to a lack of supplies.
