Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe Is Reportedly Postponed to 2028

Much about Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe—the next main installment in the franchise—remains unknown. Despite being announced back in 2022, official details about the plot or gameplay have yet to be revealed to fans, and the release date is still a mystery. Recent rumors even suggest that the launch might be delayed further than initially expected.

Insider Gaming responded to a recent report by xj0nathan revealing that two more unannounced Assassin's Creed titles are in development. Tom Henderson confirmed that he has heard about these games but did not share any further details. Meanwhile, the insider added that Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is still facing development issues, and its release has likely been delayed until 2028.

The next mainline entry was previously expected to release in 2027, but Ubisoft has apparently pushed it back by another year.

Another well-known insider, NateTheHate, previously reported that Codename Hexe might release in the second half of 2027. However, since this isn't the first time the game has faced development challenges, pushing the release back another year isn't too surprising. Regarding the aforementioned report by xj0nathan, according to the insider, Ubisoft is developing Assassin's Creed Codename Mars, set in Ancient Rome, as well as Assassin's Creed Pocket—a mobile game set in Jerusalem. Speaking about Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, late last month Ubisoft released a new blog focused on the franchise's future, where they confirmed new info about the game will be revealed next year. Codename Hexe is currently in development for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, but the official release date has not been announced yet.
