Dave Bautista Revealed His Preparations for Kratos' Role in God of War TV Series

Besides God of War Laufey, which is being developed by Santa Monica Studio, Amazon is working on the franchise's adaptation as a TV series. Dave Bautista is playing Kratos, replacing Ryan Hurst, who suffered an injury, and the actor has shown how he's preparing for the role of the iconic character.

As reported by Discussing Film, citing Bautista’s social media, the 57-year-old actor shared a look at his workouts and revealed that he had gained 20 more pounds of muscle while preparing for his role as Kratos. He had already posted workouts, and at the time he stated that it would take him another two months (until November) to get into the right shape. As we can see, the pieces are falling into place.

Filming for Amazon’s God of War TV series is currently on hold, but it’s expected to resume once Bautista gets into shape. Recent reports from insider Daniel Richtman indicate the first and second seasons of God of War will be filmed simultaneously to optimize costs. He also confirmed that Callum Vinson, who plays Atreus in the first season, will be recast for the second. This aligns with the fact that the show's second season will adapt the events of God of War: Ragnarok, which takes place years after God of War (2018).

As for games, God of War: Laufey, a new installment in the franchise with Faye in the lead role, will be released next February. The studio has also confirmed they are working on a new game featuring Kratos, as well as God of War Trilogy Remake, which was announced at State of Play in February.
