Phantom Blade Zero Sells Over 4 Million Copies in 72 Hours

Phantom Blade Zero has sold more than 4 million copies across all platforms in its first three days. S-GAME shared the number on the game’s official X account and thanked players for their support.

The game launched on October 29, and the start on Steam was huge. According to SteamDB, Phantom Blade Zero passed half a million concurrent players on launch day and later hit a peak of 833,921. Right now, 89% of its Steam reviews are positive, and the PlayStation Store rating sits at 4.71 out of 5.

Critics liked it too. The game holds average scores of 8 to 9 out of 10 on OpenCritic and Metacritic, and several outlets have already called it a Game of the Year contender.

The hype started well before release. Pre-orders opened on August 12, and within a day Phantom Blade Zero topped Steam’s global sales chart. By launch, it had collected over 3 million wishlists across all platforms. On the eve of release, Alinea Analytics analyst Rhys Elliott raised his estimate of pre-launch sales on Steam and PS5 to 850,000 copies. He added that WeGame sales likely pushed the total well past one million.

Phantom Blade Zero is a wuxia action RPG from Chinese studio S-GAME. The developers call its setting “kungfupunk”: a dark world that mixes Chinese martial arts, steampunk, and mysticism. You play as Soul, an assassin for a secret organization called the Order. Someone frames him for the murder of the Order’s leader and leaves him mortally wounded. A mysterious healer saves his life, but only for 66 days, and Soul has to find the real killer before his time runs out.
