Actor Says He Doesn’t Know Geralt’s Role in The Witcher 4

The Witcher 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the coming years. The release of CD Projekt RED’s next installment in this cult classic saga is currently scheduled for 2028, but those plans are still subject to change. The project promises to be extremely large-scale and ambitious, and its main feature will be the introduction of a new protagonist: Ciri.

Nevertheless, Geralt is also expected to appear as a supporting character in The Witcher 4. Details about his role, as well as the entire plot of the fourth installment, remain unknown. Recently, Kinda Funny Games interviewed Doug Cockle, the character’s voice actor. In an attempt to learn something new about The Witcher 4, Cockle stated that he hasn’t yet been involved in the project and doesn’t know what Geralt’s role in the game will be. You can check out more of his comments below:

“Geralt raised Ciri as his daughter. Now she has grown up and made her choices, and Geralt is there to support her. That is what his role is now. Truth be told, I do not know for sure how extensive his involvement in the game will be, since my work on the fourth installment is still a long way off. But I think his role will be more supportive. Ciri will be the main character, and that will be great. I am really looking forward to the chance to play as her in The Witcher 4, because those brief episodes in The Witcher 3 where you get to play as Ciri are simply amazing.”

Last month, the actor made a similar statement in an interview with GINX TV. Specifically, he stated that he “knows what everybody else knows,” but since this is a game about Ciri, it’s hard to say what role Geralt will play. In any case, players expect him to serve as a mentor to Ciri.

Next year, CD Projekt RED will release Songs of the Past —a new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It will mark the true conclusion of Geralt’s story and take him to a new region, Vellen, Dandelion’s homeland. It is also expected to set up events for the fourth entry.
