Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy’s Sales Hasn’t Been Impressive So Far

This summer, Asobo Studio released Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy—a new installment in the franchise that serves as a prequel and tells the story of Sophia, who was introduced in the second game, titled Requiem. The game placed more emphasis on action than on stealth, which pleased players; however, sales of the game reportedly fell short of expectations.

Pullup Entertainment, formerly known as Focus Interactive, has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2026/2027, which indicate that Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy performed less successfully than expected. However, official sales figures for the game were not disclosed. Nevertheless, the report also notes that total player spending on A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem approached the €150 million mark, increasing revenue by 164%. According to Sensor Tower, sales of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on Steam totaled just 90,000 copies.

Unfortunately, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy didn’t meet the publisher’s expectations. However, revenues from the first two games are up 164% for the quarter. The whole A Plague Tale franchise is now approaching €150M in lifetime player spending. This sum likely covers the budgets of all three games at least twice, so let’s hope Asobo Studio won’t abandon the series.

As noted in the post above, fans are hoping this won't lead to the franchise being shut down. By the way, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has received its first discount on Steam —the game is available at a reduced price (-20%), and you can save even more by purchasing the complete franchise collection.

Players and critics have given Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy warm reviews. The game has a score of 78 on Metacritic and 81 on OpenCritic. The developers and cast have previously stated they would like to see the game set in a modern-day setting —they believe such a project could resemble The Last of Us. Especially since the post-credits scene in A Plague Tale: Requiem already hinted at this.
