Nintendo Revealed New Footage of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

Not only did Rockstar share a new trailer for its upcoming title, GTA 6, but Nintendo did as well, releasing a gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time—a remake of the original 1998 game. According to many, this game could rival GTA 6 for being one of the year's best games.

In a new trailer, Nintendo showed just how much the Ocarina of Time remake will change from the original—and the difference is truly impressive. The studio has completely overhauled the graphics, including the game world and the characters’ designs, and has added full voice acting, the ability to freely move the camera, new dialogue for the inhabitants, and much more. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake “overview” trailer is here.

There was widespread skepticism that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, like GTA 6, would be ineligible for nominations at The Game Awards 2026. However, the recent update clarified games released no later than November 20 are eligible to compete, which means the path is now wide open for both titles. Given how highly acclaimed the previous The Legend of Zelda games and Rockstar titles have been, we can expect them to be tough competition in multiple categories.

Recently, it was also reported that Nintendo had scrapped The Legend of Zelda spin-off from Ubisoft. Initially, the project was supposed to tell the story of a completely new character, but the publisher insisted upon Ganondorf—Link and Zelda’s enemy—as the protagonist. Ultimately, this led to further disagreements between the parties and the game’s cancellation.

As for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, the game will release on November 5 exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, a film based on The Legend of Zelda will premiere next year, directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes). The main roles in the film are played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Link), Bo Bragason (Princess Zelda), and Uli Latukefu (Ganondorf).
