Gaming Critics Will Get Access to GTA 6 This Month - Reviews’ Embargo Will Lift Before Game’s Launch

Gamers are eager to find out what GTA 6 will be like, and there is also interest in how critics will receive Rockstar’s new game. The studio has a long list of critically acclaimed titles, and GTA 6 is expected to follow the same path.

Meanwhile, according to well-known insider NateTheHate, a lucky few will get copies of GTA 6 later this month. That would give journalists about a month to play the game and judge its story, gameplay, world, and technical side. His comments appeared on ResetEra after an Insider Gaming report claimed GTA 6 reviews would be published before release. That article is currently unavailable on the site, for some reason.

GTA 6 review copies will be sent to journalists before the end of October, according to reputable insider NateTheHate.

This news may matter more than it seems. Players have long debated whether GTA 6 will be eligible for The Game Awards 2026 in December, since the game releases three weeks before the show, and some doubt it will be allowed to take part. But if journalists get the game about a month before launch and reviews appear within a few days, GTA 6 has a good chance of being eligible in various TGA categories. That would also definitely make it one of the top favorites for the Game of the Year award.

For now, though, this is only speculation, just like the GamesBeat report about a GTA 6 release for PC in the first half of 2027. On the official side, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier published a new, in-depth article about the game, in which Rockstar, among others, shared insights into the game’s long development. Hacker Cyberleek also announced he is taking a break from leaking GTA 6 gameplay but hinted he can still reveal the game’s entire storyline in detail. He also posted another video that, by his own account, contains a scene from GTA 6’s ending.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
