Battlefield 6 Players Slam New Season Over Suspected AI Skins and an XP Cap

Battlefield 6 Season 5, Siege of Las Vegas, launched on October 13, and the new content quickly drew a wave of criticism. Players accuse EA of using generative AI for paid cosmetics, and they’re also unhappy about a new XP cap that showed up at the same time as a pay-to-skip progression bundle.

The new cosmetics got noticed first, with players spotting clear signs of AI in their designs. The Battle Pass operator skin drew the most attention. Five identical pistols hang off the operator’s tactical vest, and the sleeve patch reads “Secuty” instead of “Security.”

The Drawing Dead weapon charm raised just as many questions. Reddit user DemidRomanov broke down its design and listed a long string of oddities: the charm has no hole to attach it to a gun, the skull has a strange shape, the barrel and handguard are bent, an unidentifiable object sits where the carry handle should be, the gun has two trigger guards, and the hand has a questionable number of fingers.

Players found similar problems in the $10 Windchill bundle. On the Winter Warning sticker, the M4 carbine seems to have two barrels. Another sticker in the bundle shows a bear with an inconsistent number of paws, one features a skeletal fish whose body is made of shark jaws, and an eagle emblem has a backward wing.

The mistakes themselves aren’t the only problem. DICE previously promised that generative AI content would not appear in Battlefield 6. Nobody has officially confirmed AI use, and some of these errors could come down to human error, but fans aren’t rushing to give the developers the benefit of the doubt. The Arma Reforger developers have even poked fun at the controversy.

The progression changes upset players even more. After update 2.1.1.0, players noticed that weapon XP is now capped at 300 XP per minute. Anything above that limit doesn’t count at the end of the match, even if you earned it from kills and assists. Some players claim the cap also applies to vehicles, classes, and the Battle Pass, but nobody has confirmed that yet. The official patch notes don’t mention any cap, and DICE hasn’t commented.

The timing made it worse. Season 5 also added the Ultimate Shortcut Kit to the store for $30, which instantly unlocks every weapon across all four classes at 100% mastery. For each class, the kit includes 7 weapons, 2 vehicles, gadgets, and Training Paths, plus the Mortal Shriek dog tag and a title. That’s why players feel progression got slower right when EA started selling a way to skip it.

As a reminder, Battlefield 6 Season 5 is themed around Las Vegas. It added the Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps, a Dead Space crossover, and new weapons, and later phases will bring platoons and a server browser.
