Former Naughty Dog Developer Revealed He’s Afraid of GTA 6 and Prefer “Shorter Experiences”

GTA 6’s November release has clearly changed when other studios launch their titles, since many were wary of competing with Rockstar Games. September was especially busy, with several big releases in quick succession: Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Remedy’s Control Resonant, and Konami’s Silent Hill: Townfall. Just days earlier, Insomniac released Marvel’s Wolverine, and Rebel Wolves, founded by former Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developers, released its debut RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker.

That is all behind us now, but some people are still afraid of GTA 6 for a different reason: its scope and the fact that it could keep players hooked for hours on end. Matt Radford, a former Naughty Dog visual effects artist who worked on Uncharted and The Last of Us, recently spoke about this on the Kiwi Talkz podcast. He stated he’s wary of huge games like GTA 6 or The Elder Scrolls VI and thinks shorter games can be much more enjoyable. You can check out more of his comments below:

“I'm 38 years old. And I think that there's also something intimidating to me about a GTA 6 or, you know, another Elder Scrolls. I, personally, am really looking for shorter experiences that are focused and that I have a great time with. That excites me probably more.

Even The Last of Us 2, I thought, was so long… I really loved those earlier Uncharted games when they were like 6 to 8 hours.”

Oddly enough, Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, could rival GTA 6 in terms of its attention to detail. This isn’t about duration but about how the studio builds its worlds, characters, and the things players can do. You can also check out why Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet might challenge GTA 6 more than any other upcoming game.

Naughty Dog has also confirmed they’re working on new The Last of Us projects, and according to MP1st, the studio is also developing a new Uncharted game. As for GTA 6, Cyberleek, who returned last week, has shared two new leaks and issued an ultimatum to Rockstar and Take-Two: if his crypto wallet reaches $30 million, he will release a playable build of GTA 6 with the full story mode. Meanwhile, the latest leak shows a nude Lucia, but Take-Two is actively removing such content from social media.
