Ubisoft Cut Promising Epilogue Scene from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
This summer, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of the 2013 game. It became one of the most successful entries in the franchise and one of the studio’s biggest hits in recent years. It turns out the developers had planned an epilogue scene that would link the game to other entries in the series, but unfortunately it was cut. And now, details about this scene have been unveiled.
User Sliderv2 posted the plannced epilogue scene from Black Flag Resynced on its YouTube channel. It takes place in London after the events of main game, when Edward Kenway has already given up piracy. He meets in a tavern with Miko, the leader of the British Assassin Brotherhood, who was killed by Edward’s son Haytham in Assassin’s Creed III; also, Adewale, one of the game’s key characters, appears in a cameo. The scene looks unfinished, which confirms Ubisoft’s decision not to use it. You can check it out below:
If this scene had made it into the game, it could have connected several projects in the franchise, such as Freedom Cry, the Adewale expansion, and Assassin’s Creed Rogue, where Adewale dies at the hands of Shay Cormac, as well as the third game and even Unity. It’s a shame Ubisoft left it out, and it feels like a wasted opportunity now.
Ubisoft has hinted before they might release a story DLC for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced about Edward Kenway. Given this scene, it would be exciting if the expansion followed Edward in London after the main game. It could add a lot to the lore, show more of his relationship with his daughter Jennifer, and include this scene after all. However, Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed any plans for story DLC so far.
The studio is also working on a new game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, set in 16th-century Germany. It was announced in 2022 and has no release date yet, though rumors point to the second half of 2027. Last week, MP1st also published an exclusive report with more about the game’s main and supporting characters.
As for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the game is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
