New GTA 6 Details Revealed – Open World, Jason-Lucia Relationship, Censorship, and More

Rockstar Games continues to share official GTA 6 details, with a little over a month left until release. A new trailer or gameplay footage isn't on the agenda yet, but the developers keep dropping information in new interviews.

This time, head of development and co-studio head Rob Nelson spoke with IGN about the open world, the relationship between Jason and Lucia, the heist mechanics, and the realism of the sandbox. You can check out Nelson's fuller comments below:

  • Heists are one of the key themes in GTA 6. You can rob almost anything, and heists are not just part of the story missions but also a regular part of Jason and Lucia's daily routine. They can also be planned in detail, though that takes extra time and resources.
  • You can call your personal vehicle at any time, and it will hold all your saved weapons.
  • GTA 6 is a linear game, but your choices during missions will shape what comes next. Rockstar also wants players to be able to complete story missions in different ways.
  • Jason and Lucia react to events in the world, which opens up more things to explore.
  • The game will have a fully developed social media system. The main characters can't post since they're on the run, but they can follow different accounts to keep up with what's happening in the world.
  • GTA 6 will be completely uncensored. One moment IGN described, during a character switch, Jason was fully naked in the shower.
  • Rockstar describes the game as a continuation of the ideas from Red Dead Redemption 2, aiming for its “biggest, deepest, most densely populated, and most complex world yet,” one that always feels alive.
  • There's so much content that even the developers don't know all of it yet. A lot of it also won't appear on the map as familiar icons.
  • The relationship between Jason and Lucia is more dynamic and doesn't feel like “a scripted romance”.
  • Safehouses feel closer to the camps in Red Dead Redemption 2, so they should be more interactive than in earlier games.
  • There will be plenty of interactions with animals.

Some of this has been reported before, but the article also includes new gameplay details of GTA 6. News also broke about a partnership between Rockstar and Microsoft that will make the game available on Xbox Cloud Gaming on launch day, November 19. And if you were planning to buy GTA 6 anyway but haven't yet, you can do so on Eneba—and get a 5% discount by using the promo code EGW5.

As the release gets closer, fans are also hoping for a new GTA 6 full-length trailer this month, even a non-gameplay one. A leak points to a TV spot later this week, so there's a real chance it could happen.
