GTA 6 Confirmed to be Xbox Cloud Gaming Exclusive

Up until now, we’ve heard time and again that GTA 6 will run best on the PlayStation 5, apparently offering users a variety of additional features as well. However, a recent update from Microsoft has confirmed the Xbox version of GTA 6 has a rather unexpected advantage.

According to a new The Verge report, GTA 6 has become an Xbox exclusive as part of the Cloud Gaming service—meaning players won’t even need to formally install the game to play it, although this option is limited to a certain amount of time, which will need to be purchased separately. Meanwhile, Xbox CSO Matthew Ball, in an updated post, denied that GTA 6 would be available on PC in this way, since the platform supports Xbox Cloud Gaming—apparently, this privilege remains exclusive to Microsoft consoles.

XBOX's Matthew Ball has responded to The Verge's report on GTA VI streaming rights:

"We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC."

This appears to directly dispute the report, which claimed only Xbox Cloud Gaming could stream GTA 6 at launch.

It also seems to suggest GTA 6 won't be streamable to PC through XBOX Cloud Gaming, though the wording isn't fully clear.

Rockstar has not commented and still hasn't announced a PC version.

As noted above, Rockstar Games has not yet officially revealed all the details of its partnership with Xbox, let alone confirmed the release of GTA 6 on PC. It’s quite likely an official announcement is just around the corner, considering there’s just over a month left until the game’s release. Also, according to rumors, a new promotional video for GTA 6 could be released as early as this week.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
