Resident Evil Requiem Writer Accidentally Revealed First Details of an Upcoming DLC

Capcom's been confirmed to be working on a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem since this spring, but the studio hasn't shared any real details yet, even as various rumors have continued circulating. However, there's finally some firsthand info, straight from the writer of the upcoming expansion.

The first real details came from Haris Orkin, who previously wrote the Shadows of Rose expansion for Resident Evil Village and is handling similar duties for Requiem's DLC. Appearing at Meadowlark Comic Con, Orkin confirmed he's working on the expansion, aiming for a 2027 release, and mentioned it'll dig deeper into Spencer's storyline from the ninth installment before catching himself and noting he probably shouldn't have said that.

Well-known franchise insider Dusk Golem added more context afterward. He reiterated that Spencer Mansion, originally planned to appear in Requiem but cut during the development, will most likely show up in this DLC instead and shared a few more details. M-Two and K2, the teams behind Separate Ways for Resident Evil 4 Remake, are reportedly handling development, with release not expected until late 2027.

Capcom is also still working toward next year's Resident Evil Veronica, the remake of the original 2000 game, though an exact release date remains unknown. Recent reports have also suggested it won't be a straightforward remake, but more of a reimagining drawing on Italian giallo horror films, and psychological thrillers known for their surreal atmosphere and stylized violence.
