Watch Dogs: Legion Director's Cut Could Release in the First Half of 2027
Ubisoft plans to bring attention back to the series and release a director's cut of Watch Dogs: Legion in the first half of 2027. This was reported by Insider Gaming, the same outlet that previously revealed the director's cut was in development.

The Watch Dogs: Legion Director's Cut first came to light in February 2026. At the time, journalist Tom Henderson said on the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast that Ubisoft was working on an updated version of the game. According to him, it will get new animations and a mysterious "night mode," and motion capture sessions are already underway for the project.
Now the outlet has learned the approximate release window. The updated version will most likely launch in the first half of 2027. It is also reported that around 100 developers at Ubisoft Montreal are working on the director's cut, and the company plans to use it to relaunch the project.
Watch Dogs: Legion was announced at E3 2019 and released on October 29, 2020. The third game in the series is set in near-future London, where the player has to build a resistance movement against a regime of total surveillance. The game's main feature was the ability to recruit any NPC in the city and play as them. An online mode was later added to the game, and the Bloodline expansion brought back Aiden Pearce from the first game and Wrench from Watch Dogs 2.

However, the game received a rather lukewarm reception at launch. Critics gave it around 75 on Metacritic, while user scores were noticeably lower. The game was criticized for bugs, a weak story, and bland characters, as the recruitment system meant Legion had no proper protagonist. Because of this, many consider Legion the weakest entry in the series, and the earlier Watch Dogs games remain more popular than it to this day.
Despite the community's lukewarm reaction, the game has its own unique atmosphere, and if you want to try Watch Dogs: Legion, you can buy it at a great price on Eneba. Use promo code EGW5 to get a 5% discount on the entire range available on the platform.
Since Legion's release, nothing has been known about new games in the series. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently stated that nothing else is currently planned for Watch Dogs. At the same time, interest in the series is still there: Watch Dogs 2's player count on Steam recently spiked unexpectedly.
In addition, a film based on Watch Dogs is currently in development, which will reportedly preserve the spirit and atmosphere of the game series.
