Rockstar Games Confirmed GTA 6’s Main Plot Will Not Occur on the Entire Game's Map

Rockstar Games still hasn't revealed what the official GTA 6 map looks like, but everything points to a massive, meticulously detailed open world. In fact, it's apparently so huge that the main story won't even cover every corner of Leonida Keys.

As we recall, Game Informer released a new GTA 6-focused issue this week, featuring new screenshots and details on the open world, dynamic weather, wildlife, and more. As spotted on social media, Rockstar's Senior Vice President of Narrative, Rupert Humphries, told the magazine the main storyline of GTA 6 won't span the entire map, leaving plenty of room for players to explore on their own and find side activities. “Part of the job of the game's story is to bring the player around the map in a way that feels authentic and interesting. We don't have time to take you everywhere, but we want to be able to explore and get a feel for most of the places, cultures, and vibes.”

Earlier reports had suggested the GTA 6’s main story could take around 80 hours to finish, with side content potentially adding a couple dozen more hours on top of that. This week, Rockstar also confirmed GTA 6 will carry an M (17+) rating, a step up in maturity from GTA V, which has fueled speculation the game could include full sex scenes, a theory already bolstered by its ratings in Australia and New Zealand.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
