GTA 6 Is Now Predicted to Sell More Than 45 Million Copies in the First 12 Months

August was a significant month for GTA 6: not only did Rockstar Games finally reveal the first gameplay footage of the year’s most anticipated game during a Netflix presentation, but shortly before that, more than a dozen gameplay clips from an early version of the game had leaked. In any case, both incidents increased interest in the game, and according to updated data, pre-orders for GTA 6 are now even higher than previously estimated.

According to the Piper Sandler research, as reported by Wccftech, GTA 6’s annual sales could reach about 48 million copies. This is consistent with user activity on Reddit in threads dedicated to the game. Thanks to leaks, the community’s audience doubled (from 700,000 to 1.4 million users), and following the premiere of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, that number rose to 2.7 million active users.

Before the leaks and the GTA 6 gameplay presentation on Netflix, it was suggested the game could generate approximately $3 billion in revenue in its first 12 months after launch, with about 38 million copies sold. Recent reports also indicate Netflix gained 100,000 new subscribers thanks to Rockstar Games and even managed to win back 5% of its audience who hadn’t used the streaming service in the past month. In any case, GTA 6 sales will likely break several records, but the figures mentioned above are merely estimates, not official data.
