Forza Horizon 6 Is Reportedly Releasing on PlayStation 5 Next Year—Despite Rumors It’s Coming in 2026

Forza Horizon 6, released this May, has been confirmed for PlayStation 5, following its predecessor's path, though an exact release date on Sony's platform still hasn't been announced. A recent report also suggests that, despite earlier hints, the PS5 version won't actually arrive this year after all.

Playground Games recently published a blog post about Britain's automotive culture in Forza Horizon 6, which included confirmation of a planned PlayStation 5 release later this year. No exact date was given at the time, but The Verge's Tom Warren soon issued a correction. Citing his own studio sources, he claimed the PS5 version is actually launching in early 2027, noting the release had originally been planned for this year before slipping. Interestingly, Warren had already reported this back in late August, though not many people took it seriously at the time.

Forza Horizon 6 turned out to be one of 2026's highest-rated games, holding a 90 on Metacritic and earning one of the rare "Must Play" distinctions. It's also been a major financial success for Playground Games. As of June 2026, combined PC and Xbox Series X/S sales had reached 6.4 million copies, and that number has almost certainly grown since.

Forza Horizon 6 is now available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The release date for PlayStation 5 is currently unknown.
