Crytek Held Another Round of Layoffs: 30 People Have Been Cut – Including the Whole QA Department

Layoffs are becoming increasingly common in the gaming industry: as 2026 has shown, this affects both large studios and smaller ones. It has been reported that Crytek recently carried out layoffs, which affected two of the company’s divisions at once.

A new exclusive report from Insider Gaming has revealed that Crytek’s recent layoffs affected its Istanbul office as well as its Frankfurt department. The exact number of employees affected by the layoffs is currently unknown. However, according to the publication, an entire team of QA specialists in the Turkish department was laid off. The total number is reportedly around 30 people, both departments combined. Crytek has not yet officially announced this latest round of layoffs.

Crytek has reportedly carried out a new round of layoffs, affecting employees at its Istanbul office and Frankfurt headquarters.

According to Insider Gaming, the entire QA team in Istanbul was impacted, while cuts in Frankfurt mainly affected publishing, social media, and QA.

At least 30 employees are believed to have lost their jobs, with sources describing the layoffs as “unexpected.”

Not much is known about Crytek's current status. As we recall, in January 2022, the studio confirmed that they are working on Crysis 4, but there has been no news about the game since then, and the layoff of 400 employees in 2024 confirmed that the game is “on hold.”

This summer, there were also rumors about the release of an enhanced version of Ryse: Son of Rome, which Crytek released in 2013, but the studio has not provided any official details. Clearly, the recent wave of layoffs hasn’t improved the situation, and it should come as no surprise to anyone if Crysis 4 gets canceled in the coming years and Crytek potentially shuts down some of its departments completely.
