Remastered Version of Ryse: Son of Rome Rumored to Be In Development

Amid the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase presentation from Microsoft, even more rumors about potential announcements are circulating online. One of these rumors concerns a title that was once an Xbox One exclusive, originally announced at Microsoft’s conference 16 years ago during the E3 event.

This is about the action-adventure game Ryse: Son of Rome, developed by Crytek and released in 2013 for Xbox One, followed by a PC release a year later. Set in Ancient Rome during Emperor Nero’s reign, the game tells the story of Marius Titus, whose family was killed by barbarians, driving him on a quest for revenge. At the time, the game impressed players with its stunning graphics, detailed environments, and spectacular combat system—and now, 13 years later, we have the chance to revisit the story with a fresh perspective.

A Reddit user named Daimler_KKnD revealed that a remaster of Ryse: Son of Rome is currently in development. The game will be built on Crytek's own engine but won't be a full remake. No further details were provided, but the insider cited sources within the gaming industry and referenced previously released information about the setting for Forza Horizon 6 and a leaked MMO from Zenimax, both of which turned out to be accurate.
