Gran Turismo 8 Teased by Polyphony Digital Job Listings – Possibly for PlayStation 6

Next year, the Gran Turismo franchise—PlayStation’s flagship racing exclusive—will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Given that more than six years have passed since the release of the seventh entry and a new generation of consoles is on the horizon, fans believe that the new, eighth title will be officially unveiled next year. And a recent update from the developers provides indirect confirmation of this.

Polyphony Digital’s official website has posted a number of job listings related to the development of racing video games. Specifically, the studio is looking for specialists in various fields, including build engineer, online engineer, racing game programmer, game AI programmer, vehicle simulation programmer, game engine programmer, and others. Fans have concluded that these job openings are related to Gran Turismo 8. Players also noted the 'Vehicle Simulation Programmer' position as particularly interesting; the job description specifies working on improving the game series’ vehicle simulation engine and recreating the unique mechanics of specific cars.

This March, the first reports emerged that Polyphony Digital is working on a new installment of Gran Turismo. Specifically, the company’s CEO and producer of Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi, released a statement that also mentioned recruiting for various positions. However, there has been no official announcement yet about a new installment in the franchise. That said, as mentioned above, given that Gran Turismo will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027, it is highly likely that an official confirmation will be made around then.

Additionally, during last week’s State of Play presentation, Polyphony Digital announced the Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7, which will be released in two installments. The first will be released next month, and the second, this December. Spec IV will include two new tracks, including the Autumn Ring from the original game, 12 new cars, the option to participate in online drift challenges, and several other features.
