This decision was made by the parent company Modern Times Group (MTG). MTG owns both the tournament operator ESL and DreamHack, which specializes in hosting high-quality events.
As stated in the announcement of the news, this will be an important step to maintain leadership in the eSports environment. In the future, this solution will help to organize events more efficiently, and in the future to create a high-quality eSports product.
The combined company will be called ESL Gaming. Moreover, 91% of ESL Gaming shares will remain with MTG, and 100% of DreamHack shares - with ESL Gaming. More details on the deal are promised to be published in the near future.
