Nintendo Producer Says He’s Nervous About The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

November promises to be extremely exciting for all Nintendo fans, and especially for those who love The Legend of Zelda. That's because Ocarina of Time—a remake of the same-titled 1998 game—will be released already next week.

Although the games in the franchise enjoy incredible trust from players and have traditionally received high marks from critics, in a recent interview with Japan Today, Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma admitted that he is nervous ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s launch. First and foremost, he is concerned about how players will react to the new project, since the original was his first under the guidance of Shigeru Miyamoto. He also revealed that some of the developers hadn’t played the original 1998 game, bringing a fresh perspective to the remake. You can check out Aonuma’s more detailed comments below:

“I'm all nervous about releasing the remake of 'Ocarina' because I don't know how it's going to turn out, I can't stop thinking about it. It was the first time Nintendo was creating games in 3D.

It's thanks to these young people, by thinking about how to adapt the game in the best possible way, how to make it fun once you have the controls in your hands, that this remake came into being.”

A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo released an overview trailer for Ocarina of Time, showcasing just how much the studio has transformed the game compared to the original. The new version will feature completely revamped graphics, meticulously recreated locations—including lighting and textures—as well as a free-roaming camera, separate buttons for jumping and sprinting, a seamless open world, voice acting for the characters, and much more.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on November 5 exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
