Asha Sharma Teased The Elder Scrolls VI Might Be Released on PlayStation 5
Announced back in 2018, Bethesda Game Studios’ The Elder Scrolls VI has been confirmed for release on PC and Xbox Series X/S, though the release date—even after all these years—remains unknown. At this point, it remains unclear whether PlayStation 5 owners will be able to play the game, but recent comments from Xbox executive are adding fuel to the fire in this regard.
Asha Sharma, head of Xbox, recently attended Gamescom 2026, and the BBC didn’t miss the opportunity to interview her briefly. The conversation focused mainly on the promotion of game exclusivity policies. When asked if The Elder Scrolls VI would be an exclusive, Sharma replied, “It’s a beautiful game,” which fans took as a sign that the game might be released on the PlayStation 5 after all. You can check out the Xbox head’s more detailed comments below:
“We are increasingly going to be one of the largest platforms in the world. Every platform needs some form of exclusive experiences and content. And so, what we've shared is Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution. We're going to do the best we can to continue to do that, all in context of the business being healthy, and so we have to balance that.”
Earlier this month, Sharma had already spoken out about The Elder Scrolls VI; specifically, she shared she had seen what the game looks like and revealed “the scale and grandeur are incredible” and “the story is even greater.” Furthermore, she hinted that the game’s title consists of eight letters, and users almost immediately concluded that TES VI would have the subtitle “Sentinel.”
Given Asha Sharma’s comments, a potential release of The Elder Scrolls VI on PlayStation 5 seems even more likely. But beyond that, a significant portion of gamers play on the platform, which could impact the game’s sales. Most likely, as was the case with Starfield, which launched on PlayStation 5 this spring, the release of TES VI on the platform will happen at some point—but we’ll have to wait for that release first, since it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. According to a recent rumor, The Elder Scrolls VI may not be released until at least 2028.
