GSC Game World Revealed First Look at Update 2.0 In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Next week will see the release of Cost of Hope—a new story expansion for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. But this won’t be the only pleasant surprise for players, as GSC Game World is also set to release Update 2.0—which will significantly transform the game from a technical standpoint—and the developers have now shared the details.

GSC Game World has unveiled the first footage of Update 2.0 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which, just like Cost of Hope, will be available on August 20th—and completely for free. The developers have significantly improved Unreal Engine 5; you can see enhanced shadows, reworked lighting, as well as more detailed landscapes and vegetation. The visual update applies not only to the natural environment but also to building interiors. In addition, Update 2.0 will also delight players with improvements to the AI system known as A-Life, making activities in the Zone even more realistic. GSC Game World has also announced the resolution of a number of technical issues, the addition of new types of binoculars and weapons, and the inclusion of weather conditions that will affect gameplay—for instance, fog will make it harder to spot enemies, whilst enemies will also find it harder to spot you. As for the upcoming DLC titled Cost of Hope, the first gameplay footage of the expansion was released last week, and further details have come to light. Alongside previously published information, the developers have revealed more about the new locations in the DLC—the Iron Forest and new areas within the Chornobyl NPP.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope, alongside Update 2.0, will release on August 20 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
