Attack on Titan 3 Retells the Entire Anime Story, Launches December 10 for $70
Koei Tecmo locked in December 10 as the release date for Attack on Titan 3, confirming a $70 price tag and a story that spans the entire anime, from the Scout Regiment's earliest battles through the series finale. The game arrives on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2, nearly eight years after Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle closed out the previous entry.
Developer Omega Force built the game around a custom Scout Regiment soldier who fights alongside Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, and Levi Ackerman through ODM gear combat, while conversations and gift-giving build relationships with the cast between missions. New Titan behaviors, a Casual Mode, and an Exterior Scouting Missions mode round out additions beyond the previous two games.
Three editions ship at launch: a standard release at $69.99, a Steelbook Launch Edition with ICONART cover art, and a Digital Deluxe Edition priced at $89.99 that bundles a digital artbook, a 13-part equipment pack, character customization items, a starter item pack, and 72-hour early access. Digital pre-orders add a Wings of Freedom Earrings item, early buyers of any version get a matching Hoodie, and Switch 2 pre-orders remain unavailable even though the console shares the December 10 launch date. Players who carry over save data from either Attack on Titan 2 game unlock unspecified bonus content, and a free post-launch update will replace the opening with new animation produced by MAPPA and directed by action specialist Arifumi Imai.
Attack on Titan 3 lands in a stretch of the calendar already crowded with anime adaptations chasing very different business models. My Hero Academia: United Survival launches November 23 as a free-to-play gacha roguelike, just under three weeks before Koei Tecmo's premium single-purchase retelling. Netmarble's Solo Leveling: Karma trailer dropped in July without a firm date, but the studio has already signaled it learned from Solo Leveling: Arise's revenue collapse under aggressive gacha rates by shipping a gacha-free mode for that game first.
I think Koei Tecmo picked the safer path by charging upfront instead of leaning on live-service monetization, especially with a franchise that already burned goodwill once when the original manga's ending divided fans. I'd guess the eight-year gap since the last entry matters more to the pitch than any individual feature list, since it gives an entire generation of viewers who finished the anime on streaming a game built for them specifically.
Pre-orders are open now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the Digital Deluxe Edition's 72-hour early access window putting player-created Scouts into the field on December 7, while Switch 2 buyers wait on Koei Tecmo to open orders for a console launching the same day.
