Rockstar Games Workers Union Revealed They Met With Studio’s Management to Discuss Multiple Topics
Despite the massive hype surrounding GTA 6, development of the most anticipated video game of 2026 is not being perfect. It has been repeatedly unveiled that Rockstar Games employees are facing numerous reworks and other difficult situations, which has led some of the developers to form The Rockstar Games Workers Union—currently the largest game studio union in Europe.
Earlier this month, Game Developer released a report in which Rockstar Games Union members have spoken about an upcoming lawsuit against Take-Two Interactive, as well as issues within Rockstar Games—such as working overtime, an unfair bonus system, and much more. However, according to the official X account of The Rockstar Games Workers Union, they held a meeting with the studio's representatives, during which they presented their demands. These include: ensuring that overtime is always compensated, a more transparent bonus system, the option to work remotely, and much more. You can check out the full report, provided by GTAVI_Countdown, below:
Update: Rockstar union had their first meeting with the management and managed to secure a speedy negotiation process, demanding:
- No crunch: overtime should always be paid
- Pay transparency: to make bonuses clear
- Flexible working: to bring back options for working from home
- No AI: no colleague should have their work or job replaced with Al
- A commitment to no layoffs
The Rockstar Games Workers Union is currently the biggest game studio union in Europe.
So far, there’s no word on the result of the meeting between Rockstar Games Union representatives and the studio’s management, and it would be great if the parties could reach an agreement—at the very least, to ensure there are no significant overtime hours. This is a very common problem at Rockstar Games ahead of the upcoming GTA 6 release —recently, one union member revealed that he is forced to work up to 80 hours a week. Undoubtedly, this can negatively impact both health and motivation, especially if the overtime isn’t paid. As previously reported, despite the anticipation for GTA 6 and the scale of the project, it’s not the fans—who are upset by the lack of a new trailer—who are suffering the most, but rather those who are actually working on the game.
