Jill Valentine and Ada Wong Are Rumored to Appear In Resident Evil Requiem’s Story DLC

Released this February, Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in Capcom's franchise, has become one of the year's biggest successes—both critically and financially— becoming the fastest-selling game in the series. A story DLC for Requiem is confirmed to be in development too, though its release date and details remain unknown for now.

Meanwhile, popular franchise leaker Marcox has shared some possible details about the upcoming expansion. On his X page, he reported that Requiem's story DLC will take an experimental approach, leaning into psychological horror and visual hallucinations—Capcom reportedly wants to see how fans react before using similar ideas in future franchise projects. In another post, Marcox claimed characters like Jill Valentine and Ada Wong could return in the DLC, with the story explaining what they were doing during the events of the original game. That might also explain why development is taking so long and just how ambitious the project actually is. You can check out more from the insider below:

“The strongest behind-the-scenes rumors suggest that Requiem's massive story expansion may center around Jill Valentine or Ada Wong, to fill in the gap about what happened to them during the events of the base game, which explains why Capcom wants to make it a massive, experimental expansion that takes its full development time.

Sources also suggest that the upcoming Requiem expansion will take an experimental approach, focusing more on psychological horror and visual hallucinations, moving away from a fast-paced action style, in order to test players' reactions before implementing these ideas in future installments.”

As a reminder, Marcox previously reported that Requiem's story expansion is set to lay the groundwork for Resident Evil 10. Recently, he has also claimed that this month—specifically on July 30— the game will get an update adding new, previously unexplored locations, new enemy types and weapons, plus improvements to sound and lighting. However, he clarified the new content will not be related to the story DLC. Capcom, for its part, hasn't made any announcements on this matter.

As for the story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem itself, official details are still under wraps. But according to reliable insider group Team Biohazard, Alyssa Ashcroft, Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Ada Wong will all appear in it—which says a lot about the scale of the project.

Resident Evil Requiem’s story DLC is rumored to release sometime in 2027, after the release of Resident Evil Veronica, which also still doesn’t have a specific release date but is confirmed to launch the same year for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
