Insider Reveals Resident Evil 1 Remake Release Window and New Details About Upcoming Titles

Capcom's Resident Evil series looks set to keep growing on two fronts—new mainline installments and remakes of older games. Work is well underway on Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the 2000’s original title, as well as on a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, one of 2026's biggest hits.

Furthermore, according to unofficial reports, the studio is also actively working on a Resident Evil Zero remake —a prequel to the entire franchise—planned to release in 2028. It's also recently surfaced that a remake of the very first Resident Evil is in development, having entered pre-production last year. Capcom itself is in no rush to share details, but one notable insider is in Thanos’ mode, so he decides to do it himself.

On his X page, well-known Resident Evil leaker Marcox—who recently shared details about the Resident Evil Veronica demo —has posted new information about upcoming titles in the franchise. He claimed on the rumored release date for the Resident Evil 1 remake, a new update for Resident Evil Requiem, and the upcoming reveal of Resident Evil Veronica gameplay, which you can check out below:

• Resident Evil 1 Remake—Capcom has already approved the budget, and it exceeds that of the Resident Evil 4 remake. As a result, Spencer Mansion is expected to be roughly three times bigger, with the surrounding forest fully explorable. The project is slated for 2029.
• Resident Evil Requiem Update—An insider claims that on July 30, 2026, Capcom will release a new update for the game, adding previously unseen locations, new weapons and modification options, new enemies, and improved lighting and sound. Marcox clarifies this update isn't tied to the upcoming story DLC—it's just new content on its own. Unfortunately, he doesn't reveal exactly what that content will be.
• Resident Evil Veronica—There's a chance the game's first gameplay footage will be at Gamescom 2026 next month. If not, it'll likely happen at The Game Awards 2026 instead—which would push the release into the second quarter of 2027 (April–June) rather than the first (January–March).

What's especially interesting here is the bit about the new Resident Evil Requiem update. Capcom hasn't revealed anything on the case so far, but if it does, it'll be worth seeing what these "previously unseen locations" actually are—and whether they tie into the main story, or whether we're looking at something more like a new mode, similar to "Leon Must Die Forever," released this May.

As always, none of this is confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. Resident Evil Veronica, like the Requiem story DLC, still doesn't have an official release date—though rumor has it both are likely to launch in 2027.
